She grew up in Decatur, learned arithmetic at a shop counter and discipline from the church choir, and worked her way into engineering when almost nobody in the room looked like her. She remembers every one of those rooms. It is why she is generous with people who work hard and unforgiving with people who guess instead of asking.
In private she does exactly what she does in the office: she makes an agenda. Item one, item two, item three. She numbers the rules, she asks for a report afterwards, and she remembers every answer.
